Born Sinner Review

No artist is without his or her own flaws. Those prevalent concerns an artist carries with the possibility to push beyond, either by embracing or correcting them as a whole. The ability to overcome such faults often results in the purest form of growth, which is something only the greatest of entertainers and artists can accomplish. With that said, J. Cole has had an uphill battle since getting a glimpse of the spotlight.

“Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is Cole…”

The Introduction to Jermaine’s sophomore effort titled “Villuminati” starts of with a aggressive drum pattern, combining with a series of sounds (including a B.I.G sample) to create something enjoyably haunting. Cole bursts onto the instrumental, spilling his emotions out in regards to his enemies, subject matter, previous romantic interests and his affiliation with the illuminati. It’s brilliantly executed as the first track and holds the rest of the creation at a standard above his previous album.

“Now who more thorough than me, I paint a picture with my heart for the world to see…”

Following a Kerney Thomas related skit, we arrive at “Land of the Snakes” which is much less heavy than the track before it. Entering on a slightly somber note, the drums and the switch towards the end make light of the track itself as Cole reflects on some of his less depressing moments. Vintage J. Cole shines through here, with college memories, honest reflections and candid storytelling.

“I’m in your city and I’m wondering if you home now, went and found a man but I’m hoping you alone now…”

Born Sinner’s lead single “Power Trip” is a glorious mixture between the soul that would pour out of a R&B record and the gritty perspective that comes with a Hip Hop artist. With a simple and short feature from Miguel during the chorus, Cole effortlessly expresses his emotions whilst revealing his improved ability to deliver his words. The growth between this and his previous work is clearly shown and it’s easily one of the standout tracks on the project.

I take ya to the Promised Land, you don’t want problems, I promise, man.”

Trailing after another minute long skit involving money and Cole’s thoughts on the pursuit of it is the dangerous “Trouble”, in which we see one of Cole’s biggest risks yet. A larger step away from his typical work so far, the subject matter isn’t astonishing but the instrumental combined with his delivery feels fresh which in turn, brings more life to the project as it proceeds. The risk pays off, to say the very least.

“She popped a molly, let the motha f*ckin games begin…”

“Runaway” prowls in next, with a calm tone to match Cole’s precarious attempt at singing in the hook. Here the instrumental shines above the lyricism on display, with the chorus serving to be catchy enough to slide although overall it feels flat compared to the rest of the project thus far.

Damned if I do… Damned if I don’t…

A testament to how much Jermaine has improved since his debut project is the lovably imperfect “She Knows.” It feels somewhat odd and as murky as the instrumental may be with dramatic keys and a intense feel, It works. The track feels unsure of what it wants to be but it delivers, continuing to give the project life and even possibly standing to be memorable outside of the project.

You got what I want, I got what you need…

The tale of not having it all but wanting more bleeds through “Rich Niggaz” which essentially serves as something for the masses to relate to. From the issues that come with money, to issues that lurk without them, Cole utilizes his ability to relate throughout this track. The guitar towards the end of the record pushes this track to a level that just manages to match the worst of this project so far, which isn’t bad by any means, but doesn’t hold up against the best.

What you eat don’t make me shit, and who you fuck don’t make me cum, put a price on my head, won’t make me run…

After a churchlike skit, the illustrious Kendrick Lamar lends his essence to the expertly executed “Forbidden Fruit” complete with A Tribe Called Quest sample. Cole’s take on the mature instrumental is borderline childish, but remains enjoyable as it proceeds. As it falls a bit short in terms of scale with the rest of the tracks, the legendary sample is what’ll save this track from being undistinguished in the future.

I swear this is the last time….

“Chaining Day” feels borderline soulful, with the switch up half way through it preventing the somewhat uninteresting subject matter from gripping the track and pulling it down to a level where it becomes unworthy of the project.

How you like this Crooked Smile?

The “Ain’t That Some Shit” Interlude grabs ears immediately after the serene ending to the track before it, enlivening the project once again before the expressive “Crooked Smile” oddly makes its way forward. With a TLC charged hook, J. Cole spends his time on this reminding the listener (through his effortlessly utilized ability to share and relate) that being “you” is beautiful and honorable things of that nature. A righteous track is the norm in Cole’s discography at this point, but the addition of TLC makes this track a step above the others.

Long live the idols, may they never be your rivals…

One of the standout tracks throughout the project specifically for subject matter,  “Let Nas Down” blows most tracks on the project out of the water. J. Cole pours out his frustrations and anger all over the sax and drums that serve as a canvas, captivating the listener with his strife in the process. Undoubtedly it serves to be superior just for it’s earnestness.

Spinning in circles, live my life without rehearsal…

To conclude the project, Cole brings James Fauntleroy of Cocaine 80’s fame to croon on the hook as Cole exposes more of himself, his thoughts and his goals that still serve to be relevant in his career thus far. The instrumental serves it’s purpose of allowing Cole and his guest to coast, ultimately creating satisfying results from the two.

We watched the underdog from Dreamville deal with some of the worst type of hurdles due to the industry. It has been undoubtedly gloomy for the susceptible born sinner.  These days the snags have evolved with the artist we still watch and thankfully Cole hasn’t diverged too far from his old formula while improving his skillset, not just as a lyricist, but also as a producer. I’ve purposely refrained from mentioning the producing credits because Cole crafted nearly the entire project on his own. Handling that while making sure the project didn’t end up feeling stale is quite an accomplishment and a large improvement from his previous album.

As he struggled with all sorts of problems moving to and from The Sideline Story, J. Cole has crafted a project that not only commendably defeats the sophomore curse, but also remains genuine. Unfortunately the project isn’t without its problems. Despite the good going for it, Cole’s sophomore project does feel a bit lengthy, with some tracks feeling like they could’ve been left off. In addition, the subject matter (though contradictory yet relatable) also feels juvenile in some moments; an issue he carried with his work since his very first mixtape. Nonetheless, the maturity that exists within his honesty outweighs the babyish instants and still feels like not just a step in the right direction, but a sprint. Dark, vicious and angry, Born Sinner solidifies what the Dreamvillains already knew; J. Cole isn’t going anywhere.

 OVERALL: 8.5/10

Timeless Tracks: “Villuminati”, “Power Trip”, “She Knows”, “Let Nas Down”

Pros: Far from repetitive in sound, growth is apparent

Cons: A couple of tracks could’ve been left off

The pair are said to be planning a September wedding in Paris, reports the New York Daily News and The Sun.

Exclusive Interview with Von Tae

Phresh brings you the phreshest interviews and for this we had to cross the borders and oceans all the way to the United States of America, Calvert, Maryland. With a voice like no other is Von Tae, a young aspiring Pop and R'n'B Artist. In this tell it all interview Tae speaks about his career and growing up.

Like most singers you must have started singing at a young age. What inspired you to take music seriously?
Von Tae': What inspired me to take music seriously was the fact that I was always surrounded by music and I knew after hearing Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston's music, I knew that I wanted to be an entertainer for the rest of my life.

Does your music have a main theme or do you touch various topics?
Von Tae': My music touches a wide variety of things depending on how I'm feeling. Sometimes I feel spontaneous to. I write music that's fun and wild, but then some days I'm feeling down and I tend to write empowerment songs. It really depends on the mood that I am in. I talk about everything from money, to sex, to love to relationships, to life and everything else.

What is it about you that sets you apart from other artists?
Von Tae': What sets me apart from a lot of artists is the fact that I myself 100% of the time and I don't let fame, money or anything like that take away from the humble and down to earth guy that I am. I also write all of my music and I incorporate my life story in my music so that it may inspire others. To be honest, being different isn't my goal as an artist. I prefer to just be myself and spread positivity and good values like the artists who inspired me did.

Which artists would you like to work with?
Von Tae': I would like to work with a variety of artists including producers and specific video directors because I love what they do. I would love to work with Beyonce, Luke James, Andre 3000, Lil Kim, Ludacris, Kanye West, Hype Williams (video director), Jake Nava (video director), Melina Matsoukas (video director). Also Timbaland, The Dream, Swizz Beatz Neyo, Kandi Burruss, and Pharrell (production / songwriting wise), and so many others that I can't name from the top of my head. But those are the main ones.

Besides music, what else do you do?
Von Tae': Besides music I am an artist (drawing, painting, etc), I am an aspiring model, actor and entrepreneur. I am always looking for the next business venture to get into because I love the entertainment industry so much. I love fashion and clothes as well so I definitely want to build my brand and do all  of the things I dreamed of doing when I was younger.

Which 5 songs are on your playlist right now?
Von Tae': Well right I'd have to say:
Luke James (I.O.U)
Kelly Rowland (Down on Love)
Kelly Rowland (Put Your Name on It)
Robin Thicke's (Blurred Lines)
Trey Songz (I Need A Girl).

What is your opinion on the current state of Pop music?
Von Tae': Believe it or not, I am actually enjoying today;s pop music. I think a lot of Pop artists have different things that they are contributing to the NEW AGE of Pop and I am really enjoying what every artist has to offer. I love how some Pop artists are doing more Urban Pop music and adding different elements into the genre of Pop. For example, Miley Cyrus and Rihanna. They are really doing there thing !

What is the best advice you have ever received?
Von Tae': My mother Gladys always told me to "never give up". Even still to this day she tells me that and it's been the best advice I've heard because I deal with wanting to give up on certain things everyday but it's always her voice in the back of my head saying "what did I tell you?, never give up".

5 Interesting facts about Von- I'm short (5'7)
- My favorite food is Pizza
- My shoe size is 10 (1/2)
- I was once in foster care
- My moms fav. song of mines his "Been There Too" and "Yea We Chillin"

If you could open for any artist, who would it be?
Von Tae': Wow, without a doubt I would say Beyonce or Lady Gaga. I say these two ladies because I think we all have the same type of fan base and I think that their fans would appreciate my music a lot.

Tell me more about your first debut Album, BBOE
Von Tae': Well, my debut promo album "Broken Boundaries of Existence" is a very eclectic type of album. I think it's very standardize and it came out far better than what I expected it to. I have songs that talk about love, being strong and fearless and I also have sexual songs for my mature listeners. I think anyone from 13-100 can listen to this album and walk away from it saying, "Hmm, I really like that song" or the entire album. It's a 10 track production that was engineered by my close friend Terrance Neal, who I also co-wrote some of the songs with (Perfect Mistake, We Gon' Shut It Down, and Give It To Me). I released it back in September 2012 at my VIP album release party and then later on online to the world and I've been getting alot of amazing feedback from it !

In ten years time I will be ______?
Von Tae': Hmm, in ten years I will be VERY SUCCESSFUL and living a blessed life that God has provided for me. In all honesty I just want to be happy and see things that I've never seen, explore places I've never explored, talk to people that I've never seen and just live my life being HAPPY. Hopefully in ten
years I will be polishing my Grammy's, Oscars and other awards and just being a very successful business man. Accomplishing all of my dreams would be a blessing.

Do you write your own music?
Von Tae': Yes of course I write my own music ! I think writing your own music is very important  because you don't want to sing a song that you can relate to something that you have no feelings for. I think it's important for every artist to know how to write their own music. Even if your writing it with someone else
and collaborating, thats fine too. I really just love true stories and when someone can be HONEST about who they are.

How do I get your music?
Von Tae: Well all of my music is FREE all over the internet. Just go to Google and type in Von Tae' R&B and everything will pop up or you can go to www.soundcloud.com/officialvontae

You have an amazing voice Tae! Is there any musical background in your family?
Von Tae': Yes, music live all throughout my family. My grandmother, Alice Lake singed in a gospel girl group called "The Rainbow Gospel Singers" for 30 years and she also was apart of the church choir. My aunts and uncles can sing as well but none of them pursued a music career for themselves. They just
focused on living their lives and making money the way that they were raised to do. At every family event we always sing and dance which is very fun so music is in my BLOOD.

How was 2012 for you?
Von Tae': I need to actually start making a scrap book with pictures and writing because sometimes time goes by so fast its kinda like, I look back and say to myself, "Wow, what did I do last year?" It's crazy, but in 2012 I had a lot of fun. I went to amusement parks, I worked at 9-5 job and was making my own
money, I bout my first cell phone for myself, I released my debut promo album and that's pretty much what I did. I just had fun spending time with family, catching up with old friends and enjoying my life.

What or who inspires you musically?
Von Tae': Musically, anyone who promotes positivity and self love really inspires me. Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, and a lot of other musicians inspire me as well. Anybody who is doing their thing and succeeding within it, I applaud them because this music business is not easy and it's nice at all.

What is your creative process for creating a track?
Von Tae': Well first of all I must love the beat or the instrumental of the track to even began writing something. Then I ask myself what do I want to talk about or what do I want to express within the song. Sometimes when I get a uptempo I try not to talk about clubs or partying all of the time because I want to switch things up. After figuring out what the song is going to talk about I usually write the chorus or hook first then i do the verses and end with the bridge. Thats the easiest way for me to write songs. It's different for everyone, but that's how I write.

What's more important, melody or rhythm?
Von Tae': To me personally I think both of them are very important. You must have a great melody to contribute to a great rhythm. Without both, I don't think a song is complete. I tend to focus on both in order to catch the listeners attention with hopes to make them press the replay button !

Highlight of your career thus far?
Von Tae': Aside from a lot of things thats happened to me because of my music the #1 thing that really is the highlight is  building my fan base and being able to communicate with my Tae' Society fans who are so supporting and loving. Without them, none of this would be possible. They inspire me to inspire them back
and we share this incredible bond that can't be broken because of one thing which is the MUSIC.

How do you deal with Bad critic? Infact have you had any?
Von Tae': Believe It or not, I've had so many negative talking people try to knock me down and I actually thought about giving up on music at one point. I must say, It was hard coming out and saying that I was one gay and two a black gay male who wanted to sing aside from being a rapper or a basketball player like everyone else around me. I've learned to deal with It through prayer, and getting to know who I am as a person so that when I'm called a name, I can sit back and laugh because I KNOW WHO I AM.

What are you working on at the moment?
Von Tae': Going to college for music business so that I can start my own record label, I'm working on my new promo album, I'm working on 2 non profit organizations and I'm living my life, trying to build a career for myself and making my mother proud!

Tell me more about your upcoming promo album, what can we expect?
Von Tae': With this music for my 2nd promo album you definitely can expect something different from what you've heard from the BBOE album. It's more instrumentational if that's even a word. Haha. I can't discuss too much on It because its still in its beginning stages but its FEEL GOOD MUSIC.

On Himself

What do you do to relax?
Von Tae': Listening to music is probably the top thing that I do to relax. I also love taking random showers and soaking in the bathtub to help me relax.

What advice would you give to young people out there who want to make it big in music?
Von Tae': Know who you are, be who you are and love who you are because at the end of the day if you don't who can you depend on to love you no matter what aside from you family and God himself ? This entertainment business is tough and you have to have tough skin to be able to withstand it. If you can be yourself which means being happy with who you are you can succeed against all odds. Also, take criticism and run with it. I've been criticized about so many things, "your too skinny", "you can't sing", "why are you pursuing music? your not going to make it" and everything else.... I've heard it all. But one thing I've never done is given up.

Your favorite holiday destination and why?
Von Tae': Well my favorite holiday destination is right now is just waking up AT HOME with a house full of people on Christmas. I really love the spirit of Christmas. It's just full of excitement and love. Christmas is definitely my favorite time of the year.

Are you dating anyone?
Von Tae': No I am not dating anyone at the moment except for my music. Haha, but all jokes aside I would like to have that "Only One" and make it forever. I'm really not the player type.

Describe the Perfect person for you?
Von Tae': The type of person for me has  to be honest and open to talk to me about any and everything. I also was someone who can respect me, my music and the people who I love. I want someone who works hard, has a fun personality, someone who has dreams, someone who loves kids (because I definitely want to have a few one day), someone who enjoys life, someone who doesn't drink, smoke or wants to party at the club every week. A casual outing is fine but if it's a every week type of thing I can't deal with it. I just want someone who is honest, freaky, genuine, romantic, takes good care of themselves and wants to settle down.

Your favorite Shoe to wear?
Von Tae': I love boots and boat shoes right now. But I'm starting to fall in love with basketball shoes like Jordans. I really want to start wearing more colorful shoes or shoes that are a bit more upscale and fashion forward. One day at a time, when I'm able to afford them, I'm sure I'll have them all. Haha

If you were to kiss someone on screen, who would it be?
Von Tae': Hmm... Only one ? Thats hard. If i had to pick a female it would be Meagan Good.

Boxers or Briefs?
Von Tae': I love tight and colorful briefs or briefs that have some sort of print to them. I think it's very sexy! Boxers tend to be a bit uncomfortable for my boys. Haha

One thing you know about South Africa?
Von Tae': One thing that I know about South Africa is that I'm sure its a beautiful place with a lot of beautiful people and scenery. I've always wanted to visit Africa and I think because I have a lot of South African Tae Society fans, I must come and visit South Africa first !

Favorite Lyric Quote?
Von Tae': One of my song lyrics: "I can do anything nothings gonna stop me, I'm headed for the top of the world" (Song: Top of theWorld)

How did the name Von Tae come about?
Von Tae': My real name is Devante Jones and my nickname is Vonte. So when I was deciding on what my artist name what I decided to keep my nickname but switch it up to Von Tae'.

Whats your take on Twerking?
Von Tae': It's gon crazy and people are Twerking all over the world. I love It !

Your Most Awkward moment ever?
Von Tae': I can't remember anything. Sorry. Actually!.... A few weeks ago during a radio interview when they asked me do I play with my balls in the shower ! Now that was awkward!

Coming out as a homosexual person, what was the reaction from your family and friends?
Von Tae': My family and friends didn't really have a reaction and I actually never really "came out" to my family or friends because they KNEW me. I never hid who I am from the beginning and I think they respected that. They're supportive and I love my friends and family so much.

Homophobia is still an issue, do you think this might have an impact on your music career?
Von Tae': To be completely honest, I do think that it will have an effect on my career but I'd rather be who I am than something that I am not. I believe in the truth and being who you are. As an artist and motivational speaker, I can't promote self love if I'm not being my true self. Thats contradicting.

Have you ever dated a girl?
Von Tae': No I have not dated a girl before. But I do admire and respect females. My main best friends are girls.

Last words?
Von Tae': Shoutout to all of my Tae' Society fans and all of my supporters. Shout out to my mother, Gladys Lake and thank you God for being my light and provider. Also, thank you for having me for this interview. I really do appreciate it.

Open Letter to Open Letter writers

Lately open letters have been the new IT thing lately, the new trend. I can count, Open Letter to Mfundi Vundla, To Unathi Msengana, To Jacob Zuma, To Kenny Kunene and To Kenny Kunene.

The general form of these open letters breaks down to the following format:

  • Salutation
  • Praise for the person or product you are about to dismantle.
  • A breakdown of what is wrong and how miserably wrong it is.
  • An explanation of why this is bad.
  • Your solution for how the person being addressed in the letter can solve all your problems.
  • A close that again praises the person or product because you can’t leave on a sour note.
  • Every time I read an open letter I envision the person behind the post is reading it to me with a sweater wrapped around their shoulders and either leaning on a croquet mallet or walking along a pond.

I admit I have a higher hatred for this trend of writing open letters than most people. The reason is that it is superfluous in an online context.

We can not all be writing open letters. Calm down with this trend. We all have the freedom of speech but really? Nah.

Open Letter to Kenny Kunene

After kenny kunene's Letter to The President Jacob Zuma, someone decided to turn the wheel.

Dear Mr. Kunene

This morning we ordinary hard-working South Africans woke up to shocking and yet no so surprising news that you have once again decided to feed into your childish fetish of hogging newspaper headlines and get the social media society going, in awe of yet another stupid gimmick you pulled. This time, many will argue, you have outdone yourself because you decided that you, undoubtedly after a few puffs of wunga disguised as a cigar, will write an open letter to the President of the Republic.

Ordinarily we should laugh off your attempts to hog headlines like we did before when you decided to feast Sushi on top of naked women as a stunt to market your now closed down ZAR Night Club. When many warned you against this move, many clapped hands for you, pity those who clapped hands for you led you to being a broke, sorry human being who rents a backroom in some white man’s house in Sandton. This was to be the beginning of your journey back to the gutter where you come from, you then decided once again to bombard us with media headlines when one Oscar Pistorius shot his girlfriend in cold-blood, you decided to “side” with this Oscar who probably doesn’t even know who you are, all this to feed your lust for attention.
Just when we thought that was bad, you then decided to appear on television on a show watched by millions of women who suffer daily abuses of unfaithful husbands and men with a string of scantily dressed high school children which you introduced to the nation as your “girlfriends” of course people who have a brain-cell or two could see through you that you barely have one girlfriend since your wife saw you for the nincompoop that you are and divorced you.

Today you decide to write to the head of state trying to impress your long time (equally media addicted) friend, one Julius Malema who also, in his usual strange wet-dreams, decided to start a political party purely based on insults levelled at the President of the ANC and of the Republic. I thought it fit that perhaps, since the President is a busy man, I respond to your hogwash parading as a letter and expose you for the petty hypocrite that you are, a man who is known for nothing other than being a phoney and a clown of note!
In your toilet-paper notes masquerading as a letter to the President, you seem to recall a phrase from one of the historical plays that “The Emperor is naked” by this you accuse the President of being naked and exposed, its quiet funny that someone of your age who takes off his pants daily and exposes his willy to 14 year olds would see another naked man, who is really naked here?

You make a blatant lie that you were a “fervent supporter” of President Zuma during his difficult periods, you further claim that you attended vigils during his court appearances. As a young man who equally attended these vigils, I cannot recall ever seeing you with your sushi there, you further arrogate yourself the status of being a host to some meetings that were discussing the course of the President, when and where was this because in our little knowledge, the only real thing you owned was the ZAR Night Club which opened after the President was elected in Polokwane, unless you want to tell us that you owned a shebeen somewhere and that the course of president Zuma was discussed in those shebeens??

You further have a nerve to call yourself a businessman, which business do you own?? ZAR has crumbled and Gayton McKenzie has left you home and dry, do you perhaps own a spaza shop somewhere in Alexandra??
You speak of the ANC as though you are a member and yet we are to hear your own contribution to the course of our people, the daily suffering of the millions of our people whom the ANC continues to assist through social grants, no fee schooling, free education at FET level and the introduction of Free education at tertiary level. We did not see your contribution when the administration of President Zuma introduced Rural Development, the National health Insurance Scheme and other initiatives.

Through these claimed millions you lied about having, what programs have you developed to assist young people to achieve the greatness that you claim to have? You have consistently poured scorn to the fight against poverty by extravagantly exposing your stolen wealth in the faces of our people.

Your so-called letter to the President can only earn you what you always received in your other stunts as well, a round of applause from those who will plunge you back to the skwatta-kamp you come from, those you think are praising you are actually the ones dragging you down, you remained a failed human being without a shred of morals within, you subscribe to no value system and you are an example of what our children should never aspire to be, you remain a petty thief who was convicted of fraud and your time in jail has made you realize what you were destined for, a man suffering from serious levels of a pendemic called Attention Seeking Disorder.

So instead of writing letters to the President, try to fundraise money to pay your backroom renting before you are thrown out and your clapping hands friends will be nowhere to be seen, try being a father your children can look up to and perhaps you need to strip yourself naked off the clown suit you’ve been wearing for the past few years, only then may we begin to take you seriously.

Bafana Bafana Kiss Brazil Goodbye

And.... Goodbye Brazil. This proves again that being a South African and supporter of the national team is depressing.

The hopes of qualifyig for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil ended in heart break as Bernard Parker gave Ethiopia a 2 - 1 win.

The result means Ethiopia, with an unassialiated five point lead with one qualifying match remaining, automatically finish top of group A and progress to the final round of the World Cup qualifier playoffs.

But Bafana Bafana had a good gaming going on, with the scores being 1 - 1 in the first half.

Mzansi's Own Big Brother

From January 2014 Big Brother and millions of television viewers will be watching every move of a group of outgoing, house-bound South Africans.

M-Net announced that its local brand, Mzansi Magic, will produce another South African edition of Big Brother, and the show will suitably be called Big Brother Mzansi.

Yolisa Phahle, M-Net’s director of Local Interest Channels, says hosting a reality show of the magnitude of Big Brother is a logical next step for Mzansi Magic. “The multiple requests over the years for another local version of this supernova television show, together with the overwhelming viewer response to Big Brother Africa signaled that it will be a sure-fire hit in our market.

“Adding Big Brother to our varied, increasing portfolio of general entertainment productions – ranging from telenovelas, soaps, lifestyle shows, comedies to reality and drama – consolidates Mzansi Magic’s commitment to bringing the biggest and the best local shows to our viewers. The format is perfectly aligned to our vision which is to produce the most compelling content for audiences when they want it and where they want it,” she adds.

M-Net and format owner and production company Endemol SA, introduced the concept of realty television to SA audiences in 2001 with the very first 24/7 Big Brother broadcasts in the southern hemisphere. Big Brother and the inhabitants of the specially-built Big Brother House immediately grabbed the imagination of the nation, inspired newspaper headlines and even led to academic thesis and debates.

Then, after a second South African season in 2002, Big Brother ventured into the entire continent, where it continues to create excitement and viewer participation season after season.

Big Brother The Chase, an M-Net AfricaMagic property, is currently captivating viewers across Africa with just under one million unique website visitors; over 1.5 million video views (online); over 30 million page views (online) and more than one million messages to TV in just two weeks.

Big Brother Africa also boasts more than one million likes on Facebook and generates approximately 300 000 tweets per week.

“We are extremely proud of all the Big Brother editions,” says Endemol SA managing director, Sivan Pillay. “The brand just keeps on growing and each season has had its own charm. We value our longstanding relationship with M-Net as a company and look forward to be collaborating with another channel in its family of brands.”

However, who will present the show? Who can enter? When will the contestants be chosen? How much cash is up for grabs? And what will the theme be?

“This country-specific Big Brother will be filled with twists and turns, just like the Pan-African ones,” says Pillay. "More will be revealed at a later stage.”

Big Brother Mzansi will be the 11th season produced by companies M-Net and Endemol SA. This includes two seasons of Big Brother South Africa, and eight seasons of Big Brother Africa and Big Brother Nigeria.

TWAR!! NtsiPhonik

Phresh from Black Twitter is a Twar between non other than Ntsiki Mazwai and Dj Euphonik AGAIN! Remember this is not the first time the two have a Twitter War. Last year around June they had a bash out on twitter.

Dear Ntsiki and Euphonik

We are tired of your childish behaviour. Firstly you Twar for stupid things. Secondly you use the same 'ish' on each other over and over again. This comes to Ntsiki not bathing and Euphonik being a woman basher. This is getting lame.

Twitter is not for your attention seeking stunts. The two of you are adults, Ntsiki if you want to play Women Rights Activist, then do it the right way. Euphonik, If you have a 'problem' against Ntsiki, we don;t want to know. The two of you are grownups now.

This brings me to Bonang. The twar was between Ntsiki and Euphonik, I don't know how it concerns her as she called Ntsiki a Sheep. Really?

This is not a personal agenda but merely a concerned Fan. Please, keep your Biz behind closed doors. Anyway, Keep bringing Good Music.
