Fistaz Mixwell

Hey Guys, My name is Qandeekinz and I've just joined Red Fusion World. Well I had the privilege to interview the Awesome, Legendary, Fistaz Mixwell. Check how the interview went. Hope you all love it.

Who Is Fistaz Mixwell?
South Africa's most trusted and most wanted DJ

Tell Us About Your Childhood, where you came from?
Born in the North West, went to boarding school in Mafikeng. Was very naughty but also very popular at school because of my music collection.

In 1997 you joined Channel T radio station as a mobile disco DJ, how was the experience?
It was actually in 94... Shortly after the first democratic elections and a lot was happening at the now University of Johannesburg. The campus radio station was all white so I was one of the first black students to join so that came with a lot of challenges. There were a lot of black students who demanded to hear their taste in music on the station so I was the obvious choice for most of them and that put me in a special place at the station and on Joburg entertainment scene in general.

You Were Known As One Of The Finest Young Dj's in Johannesburg, How did this make you feel?
Made me feel proud. Was not aware at the time that I would be helping pave a way for others to follow.

In 1999 you released your first album dubbed 'It's Time", Was It Nice Co-creating Some Tracks By Yourself, or was it a drag?
Was good. It was also my first attempt but I was only happy to work with Bruce Dope and Skizo.

You Have Performed In Top Night-Clubs In London, New York, Miami, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Malaysia, South Africa, Africa, France, Ireland, Zurich, Lausanne, Geneva and many more cities across the world, Did it have a big impact on your career?
Of Course. The PR value you get out of it catapults your image.

In 2004 you joined South Africa's biggest Urban Radio Station with 5.5 Million listeners as the Music Manager, Was this exciting?
Yes it was, considering I was head hunted for that position.

In 2006 METRO FM reached a record listenership figure of 6 Million, How Did it feel to be highly credited with the music strategy you applied after joining the station?
My team and I were very happy. Music taste varies from one ear to the other so for us it was very exciting to see the station's listeners responding positively to the new urban sound.

You and T'bo Touch have formed a formidable force in entertainment and your business interests vary from radio show, TV shows, events and club activations, What advice would you give to young people who want to be successful like you?
Find a comfortable spot on the market/industry where you can continue to learn and become better. Stick to it and you'll reap the rewards soon.

In 2011, you were quite a busy man. You left your tenure at METRO FM having headed two [2] posts as Music Manager and later head of New Media. You joined ZAR Empire as CEO and you're responsible for transforming the ZAR Brand. While in charge you launched the zaronline website, ZARFEST, and you were also involved with the club business and also the So What television show aired on ETV, Did Managing Ever Become Stressful To You?
Not really. I was enjoying what I was doing.

You recently released a hit song called "Hade Mabhebeza" what inspired you to write such a touching song?
With credit to William and Michael from Vaalsow this was a classic apology to a lady situation that justo morphed  into a hit song.

Which Artists Do you think will change the South African Music Industry?
You'll never know. That's artists is still discovering themselves. These days people just come out of nowhere to somewhere in record time.

I know you have achieved everything you ever dreamed of but do you have any plans for your future?
Plenty. To continue to make more music and focus on my other businesses. Travel a lot more with my family as well.

What would you like to say to your fans?
Don't be anyone's sidekick. Go out and do your own thing without having to seek validation from those more successful than you.
