Royal Soapie Awards to take place next year

South Africa’s soap stars, industry heavyweights, commentators, celebrities and socialites will come out in their finest livery to celebrate the industry’s best at the Royalty Soapie Awards, scheduled to take place on Saturday, 8 March 2014 at the Durban International Convention Centre (Durban ICC).

The awards will be broadcast on SABC1 for all the fans at home.

“We are in the process of finalising our negotiations for next year’s Royalty Soapie Awards and we are confident we will strike a win-win deal for all," comments SABC TV general manager Leo Manne.

Says Royalty Soapie Awards project director Sindile Xulu: “We will focus our energies on producing a top-class event that reflects the excellence of the work done by South Africa’s television soap industry. It will be a night of glamour, entertainment and celebration."

Finalists in the acting categories will be announced on 23 October and voting lines for the Most Popular Soapie open on 2 November.

A date for the opening of ticket sales for the event will be announced in the near future
