Kate Middleton & Prince William Announce Son's Name

Ever since his arrival on Monday (July 22), Royal baby watchers have all been eager to learn the name of the newborn Prince of Cambridge. And now we know.

Prince William and Kate Middleton chose the name George Alexander Louis for their little guy, with his official title listed as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.

Kensington Palace said in a short statement: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son George Alexander Louis. The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s moniker selection is thoughtful and strong, as George comes from the Greek for earth-worker or farmer, and Alexander means ‘protector of men.’ And of course, Louis means ‘famous in battle.’

Back in 1714 George I took over the British throne and there’s been six King Georges in Royal lineage so far. It sounds like Prince George of Cambridge will be lucky number seven!
