Zulu to be compulsory for UKZN Students

Zulu will be a compulsory course for all first year students at the University of KwaZulu Natal from 2014.

This will apply to all undergraduates, regardless of their programmes.

Staff and students will sit an exam after the One semester course, during which they would learn enough Zulu for verbal academic interactuin. The course will run until 2018.

But really? One semester is going to make you fluent in Zulu?

I mean, if the University of KwaZulu Natal only took students from KwaZulu Natal then I would say 'okay'. It doesn't seem logical for someone from Malawi or even from Limpopo to learn Zulu.
